Microfilm

Microfilm is a photograph (generally a negative image) of a paper or computer record usually reduced in size from the original. Microfilm may be used as a verb to describe the actual process of microfilming or as a noun to describe the photographic media.

The main branch of the Guelph Public Library houses a large collection of microfilm. Included in our on microfilm collection are civil vital statistics (births, marriages, and deaths), City of Guelph records (assessment rolls, bylaws, and council and committee minutes), court records and non government records (city directories and local newspapers). This collection is accessible during normal library hours.
