BOOK LOVERS HELP TO OPEN THE NEXT CHAPTER

The Guelph Public Library's inaugural "Evening for Book Lovers" fundraising event held on Friday February 15th at the Italian Canadian Club was a huge success raising over $13,000! Over 160 library supporters attended the sold-out evening of mystery dinner theatre, mingling, and silent auction festivities, helping to open a new chapter in the quest for a New Main Library in Guelph. The evening was proudly sponsored by Meridian Credit Union and hosted by Magic 106.1 FM radio personalities Kevin Kelly and Lisa Richards. Mayor Karen Farbridge, Intrigue Media, Swan Moving and Storage, Saunders Books, artist Sonal Raje as well as children's author Werner Zimmerman were among the devoted library supporters in attendance. The mystery theatre, presented by the Mysterious Players, kept the audience guessing in their seats as to which character was guilty of the crime with various clues given along the way. The Crime Writers of Canada - local renowned mystery authors Michelle Wan, Alison Bruce, and Gloria Ferris were also available for book signings. The library fundraiser presented an array of wonderful auction items - a result of overwhelming support from the community. Guests had the opportunity to bid on top items such as original art pieces, spa packages, and theatre tickets. Overall, it was a night filled with mystery, intrigue and lots of literary fun!

All proceeds of the event directly support the $10 million campaign for a New Main Library. The Guelph Public Library would like to extend its deepest gratitude to its event partners, sponsors, donors, volunteers, and all of the guests whose continued support made this event a memorable and successful one. Your generous donations and support ensure the GPL will continue to be a vital resource in our community!
