Archives Image Database

About the database:
This database contains historical images and descriptions of photographs held in the archives of the Guelph Public Library.

Full Text Search
The full text search supports full boolean search capabilities. For example, if you are looking for a photograph of James Goldie as a child, the former Mayor of Guelph, you can type in the search box "James AND Goldie AND child" (without the quotes). This will help narrow down your search results.

Disclaimer:
It has not been possible to establish precise dates for all images in this database. Square brackets have been used in those instances where we are not certain of the exact date. For example:
  • [1967?] means that the image probably dates from 1967
  • [196-?] means that the image probably dates from the 1960s
  • [19-?] means that the image probably dates from the 1900s

  • "Ca." is used in those instances where we know the approximate date of the image. "Ca. 1960" for instance indicates that the image dates around the year 1960 (e.g. the actual date could be 1957 or 1964).

Dating of archival images is inherently problematic and we encourage your feedback so that we can remedy any inadvertent dating problems. If you do notice any errors, please contact the archivist.
