The library hosts eight book clubs that are open to all valid library cardholders. The clubs meet monthly from September to June at several branches with a library staff member facilitating the discussion. Check out our current schedule for titles and dates.

If you're already part of a book club or are interested in starting one, GPL can help! The library offers more than 170 titles as book club sets which can be borrowed for an extended period. Interested in a book title not on our list? We are able to source copies from within the GPL system and from other libraries. To reserve your titles, please fill out the booking form and email it to bookclub@library.guelph.on.ca. We will do our best to accommodate your request(s) based on availability.

Specialty Book Clubs
The ESL Book Club is for English language learners who want to practice their English reading and conversation skills. Each week we will read and discuss short stories and chapter books, reading materials will be provided to participants with a valid Library Card. The Club is for upper-intermediate to advanced ESL learners who are able to read at a LINC Reading Benchmark level 6. Please contact the Main Library to register for this program.Mother Daughter book club is an hour long program that meets the Third Wednesday of each month. We come together to talk laugh and learn through our love of reading. Please contact the Main Library, Children's Department to register for this program.
Love cooking and trying new recipes? Are you always checking out the latest cookbooks? Want to meet with other local foodies to talk about your adventures in the kitchen? Then the GPL Cook Book Club is for you! Meeting monthly, we will prepare recipes from either a particular book or based on a theme, then come together to review the book(s) discussing everything from taste to ease of use. Four times a year, we will meet & dine at downtown restaurants to experience that month's culinary delight together.
