Tools for Learning English:
The GPL is excited to offer several free resources to help you learn how to speak, write, and listen in English. Books, DVDs, CDs, eBooks, eAudiobooks, and several online tools are available to you with your GPL library card. The GPL also offers a wide variety of resources for ESL tutors and teachers. Visit a GPL location today for more information and assistance accessing these tools.
Programs for Learning English:
The GPL is pleased to provide programs that assist New Canadians in the community to learn English. Weekly, we host an ESL Conversation Circle at the Main Library. This fun program is an easy way to practice conversational skills with GPL staff. No registration is required for this program. Please see our events calendar for more information. The GPL also hosts an English as a Second Language Book Club where participants meet for a discussion about their thoughts and opinions about specific titles. Registration is required for this program. Please see our events calendar for more information.
Citizenship Practice Tests:
The GPL has several resources that can help you with your citizenship test. Come visit us at the Main Library Information Desk for a print out of sample questions and answers. As always, all locations and staff are available to help you with your questions. Please see the below links for online information and sample practice tests.
Searching For Work:
The library offers many free resources to help you search for work. We have computer stations available where you can easily and efficiently search the internet for jobs, write cover letters and resumes, and send emails. We also have several print and electronic tools that you may find useful during your job search. Check out our job search page for more information.
