What's New!
Please update your password
Since the fall of 2008 patron's have been required to enter a password (formerly called a PIN) when accessing their account online. Upon registering for a card, this password is automatically set to the last four digits of your barcode.

To ensure maximum security, you are strongly urged to change your initial PASSWORD to another 4-digit number of your choice. After the first time you log in with the number we give you, you can change this number yourself. Simply go to the tab on the catalogue titled “PATRON ACCOUNT”, log in and click on the “Change Logon” link. The PASSWORD can be changed at the bottom of that screen by clicking on “Change Password”. It’s as easy as one-two-three; enter the old one; enter a new one; enter the new one again, and press the “Submit” button.

If you have reported a lost card to the library the login screen will deny you access. You must visit any of our library branches and show proof of identification to have a card reinstated for your use. If you have forgotten your PASSWORD, please contact library staff for assistance.

Battery Recycling now available at all Library Branches and City Hall
Residents can now drop off used batteries for free at Guelph libraries and City Hall

GUELPH, ON, August 30, 2010 – There are seven new locations across the city where residents can drop off their used batteries for free recycling, starting today. All six Guelph Public Library branches and City Hall have bins in place to collect single use, rechargeable, button cell, 9V and lithium batteries for recycling. "Making responsible disposal of used batteries even easier to access will encourage greater participation in this recycling program" said Heather Connell, the City's Program Development Supervisor at Solid Waste Resources.

The City will also continue to collect used batteries at the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Depot, located at the Waste Resource Innovation Centre at 110 Dunlop Drive. For hours of operation, visit guelph.ca/wetdry. Last year a total of 8,909 kilograms of alkaline and rechargeable batteries were recycled through the HHW Depot. This initiative will increase waste diversion and is aligned with the recommendations of the Solid Waste Management Master Plan, published in 2008.
